Re: Is VW FSI engine convertable?

That looks interesting! I wonder if that is a kit specifically developed by Prins for that FSI engine or if it will work on FSI engines in general?

Re: Platinum vs Standard plugs

Hi Jag, That's the reason why I do most of the work on my own car - it's very difficult to trust garages these days unless you actually stay there and watch what they are doing. What indy did you use? It could be just as you said - a loose plug. If not, it could be the coil pack; if so, swap that to...

Re: seems to be missing on gas

If you have a 2001 or later car, you can check them easily with handheld OBD-II reader plugged into the diagnostic port in the car. If you have an earlier car, you adaptations need to be checked via a diagnostic programme using the 20 pin socket under the bonnet. Either way, make sure the car is run...

Re: seems to be missing on gas

If you've driven it on petrol only for several days and are certain it runs perfect on petrol and there are no error codes stored, then it could be a slight LPG fuelling problem. Check the fuel trims when driving on LPG.

Re: Wot Tyre pressure now have LPG?

I've found that sticking to the original pressure is best - just check it more regularly if you like.

Re: Platinum vs Standard plugs

Hi

I switched to Iridium plugs (NGK first and then Denso) and the NGK's lasted around 60k so definitely worth it.

I wouldn't bother with the Bosch 4-prong by the way. Stick to single electrode.

Re: Is VW FSI engine convertable?

Hi It seems silly that Installers would say a car can be converted when it can't but I suppose there are some cowboys out there. As a general rule, all direct injection engines cannot be converted presently. Any engines with soft valve seats (a lot of Fords, some Vauxhalls and a lot of Japanese cars...
