Are modern diesels worthy of low road tax?

New direct injection diesels, hybrid electric motors, veg oil.. how do they compare to Autogas/LPG?

Are modern diesels worthy of low road tax?

£55 for 6 months Ford focus.
£35 per year Renault 1.5 Clio.

In my opinion , NO, they may have a slight reduction in CO2, but they are in terms of carcinogens , particulates ,NOX,s etc they are a 1000 times worse than any petrol engine let alone a lovely clean LPG burner.

It is time for parliment to remove their heads from their rectal passages and smell the coffee.

Just thought this thread needed bumping...

Look how it turned out - VW and other marques emissions scandal, government at last see diesels for what they are.

Slightly less CO2 but would rather have CO2 in the local environment than NOX and diesel particulates.

Let's face it, it should always have been entirely obvious that it's far better to have petrol and especially LPG vehicles than stinky obnoxious smelling, sore throatbad chest causing diesels with their unreliable highly stressed injectors, turbos, engines, DPFs, DMFs increasing ownership costs beyond any fuel cost savings.
